STYLE STAR: Erica Pelosini

One of my favorite things about Fashion Week (be it men or women in any city) is the street style. And no one makes a street style statement quite like Erica Pelosini.  As a contributing editor to Vogue Nippon Erica is no stranger to high fashion- luckily her sense of style isn't limited to the pages of a magazine and that's what makes her today's style star.

SPRING 2014: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Obsessed doesn't even begin to describe my feelings toward the SS14 Phillip Lim collection.  I have been following the menswear spring 14' collections and was going to do an overview post however, the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection stopped me in my tracks; I had to drop everything I was doing and make a post now.

For SS14 Lim was everything to everyone, he gave us- grunge in the form of plaids, punk with leather and grommets, surfer dude in Hawaiian floral, streamlined minimalism with color blocking, androgynous with long hemlines...did I mention he was everything?  With so many inspirations what the designer did not give us is confusion; unlike many young designers the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection was cohesive and well edited/styled.  Each look transitioned to the next with fluidity and pattern/colors/fabrics/textures played off and complimented each other.  To view the full collection and decide for yourself visit style.com http://www.style.com/fashionshows/complete/S2014MEN-PLIM

STYLE ICON: Shala Monroque

Shala Monroque former editor of Pop magazine, current editor at Garage mag, fashion consultant at Prada, girlfriend to art mogul Roman Abramovich, blogger, socialite, jet-setter, muse...well let's just say all-around fabulous and call it a day.

It's no wonder she has such a laundry list of accomplishments in the fashion world, whether she's sitting front row at fashion week or just walking the streets of New York Shala is a style icon.  She can wear Prada head-to-toe without making it look contrived or mix denim with vintage and designer duds like nobodies business.  I've been watching her style evolution for years and I just can't get enough.

You can get more Shala Monroque at www.shalasrabbithole.com and follow her on twitter @shalamonroque

Neoprene Dream

I have a dream...that it's autumn year round everyone carries crocodile Birkin bags, wears Christian Louboutin pumps and oversized Fendi fur coats......and then I wake up and I'm whisked back into the reality of hot sticky summer days.  Might as well make the best of it by getting on board with a summer staple- neoprene.

Neoprene is to summer what leather is to winter.  What was once limited to the surfing crowd via wetsuits is now a designer favorite and transformed into bags, dresses etc.  So enjoy the dog days of summer and get on trend with neoprene in the modality of your choice.

LABEL LOVE: Sacai

In a sea of fashion, Sacai's Fall/Winter 2013 collection was a cut above the rest.  The label took the expected (motorcycle jackets) and gave us the unexpected (motorcycle jackets in white leather with fur sleeves).  Fall staples were transformed into pieces of fashion art- yet they maintained their wearability.

The Japanese label Sacai was established in 1999 by designer Chitose Abe. The Sacai aesthetic understands the importance of balance- art, fashion, luxury, and above all wearable clothing.  Most recent success of the brand probably can be attributed to Paris Fashion Week, where four years ago Sacai began to show their collections.  Beforehand, Sacai was mostly known amongst fashion insiders and savvy shoppers.

Season after season Sacai is the label you want to watch and wear.

SUMMER MUST HAVE: The Tote

I'm usually the satchel or clutch carrying type, but when the summer months are upon us I can't deny the practicality of the TOTE.  Whether it's an impromptu meeting, rendezvous in the park or last minute weekend get away- a light weight carry all is just the accessory to get you from point A to point B.

The sensible bag is no longer just an accompaniment to the beach, oh no it does double duty...sophisticated enough for the office yet large enough for an overnighter.  And with a large enough selection to match every taste and budget there's a tote out there for everyone.
